Parent Teacher Organization

Purpose

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) was established to facilitate communication and involvement between parents and teachers at North Star Academy. Our goals are three-fold:

  • Promote the welfare of the children at home and in school.
  • Help parents and teachers work together in the education of the children.
  • Make North Star Academy a great place to learn.

President

Linette Wilson

Linette has been involved with NSA PTO for several years. She has been PTO secretary and chaired Red Ribbon Week and the Inspirations program. She enjoys the opportunities that PTO provides to interact with other parents. All five of her children have attended NSA with three of them currently attending. Her favorite thing to do at North Star is volunteer in the classroom where she can see firsthand the quality education available here. She has her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with emphases in Spanish and History. Linette enjoys music, running, playing games with her family, and reading a good book in whatever little spare time she can find. lwilson@north-staracademy.com
Middle School Vice President

Brigette Commish

Brigette grew up in Sandy, Utah and graduated from BYU with a degree in Recreation Therapy. She has volunteered at various charter schools in Colorado and Utah. While living in Colorado, she owned two small businesses. Her interests are cooking, reading and waterskiing. This year she was the pianist for the 8th and 9th grade choir at North Star Academy. She and her husband are the parents of 4 boys.
Elementary Vice President

Tawnee McCay

Tawnee has served with the PTO as the Family Fun Chairperson. She loves NSA more every time she volunteers and sees what a great school her kids get to attend. She has her MBA with an emphasis in Financial Planning from USU. She loves to travel and her favorites are India, Nepal, Russia, Germany, Washington DC and NYC. She loves to read, invest and be with her cute Hubby, 4 kids and 2 foster kids.
Secretary

Cindy Strong

I grew up in a large family on a farm in Southern Idaho. I received an Associate’s Degree from Rick’s College and my Bachelor’s Degree from BYU in secondary education. I taught Health at Bingham High School for one year. I am married to Mark Strong and we have six busy children. This is our fifth year at NSA and we love it! I have been previously involved with the PTO on the Family Fun committee. I enjoy reading, singing, playing the piano, dating my husband, cycling, swimming, and working. I am happy to be part of our school community.
Treasurer

Laurel Alldredge

Laurel is excited to help contribute to NSA by being on the PTO Board. She loves the teaching environment that NSA has to offer and is delighted to have her children attend. Laurel has also served as secretary and president of her Home Owner’s Association Board, treasurer in the PTA and Girl Scouts. Currently, she works part-time as secretary for her father’s business, and enjoys living back in Riverton where she grew up. Laurel is the mother of six children (2 girls and 4 boys). Her interests are spending time with her family, scrap-booking, singing, organizing, Disneyland, gardening, chocolate, and going to the movies with her husband.

Meeting Schedule

The PTO board meets every month on the first Wednesday at 8:40 AM in the music room at North Star Academy.  All parents are welcome and every PTO member is included in items voted on by the PTO.
